Etsy fee calculator (US)

A typical Etsy sale has three fees: listing, transaction and processing. Add them up in one go.

Your sale
Field help Sale price: the item price the buyer pays, before shipping and tax. Buyer shipping: what you charge the buyer for shipping. Sales tax: collected and remitted by the marketplace, but some platforms charge fees on it. Applied to item + shipping. Your shipping label cost (under More options): leave it blank to assume it equals the shipping you charged. You paid for it: what the item cost you, so "you keep" is your real profit.

Etsy charges three fees on a typical sale. For US sellers the transaction fee skips sales tax, but the processing fee includes it.

How Etsy calculates the fee

  • $0.20 listing fee per item; 6.5% transaction fee on item price + shipping (+ gift wrap); for US sellers the transaction fee does not apply to sales tax. Payment processing (US bank account) is 3% + $0.25 on the total including shipping and sales tax. Offsite Ads fees are not included.
  • Listing fees renew every four months or when a multi-quantity item sells again.

Example (formula-derived)

$20 item + $5 shipping, no tax: listing $0.20, transaction 6.5% x $25 = $1.63 (rounded from $1.625), processing 3% x $25 + $0.25 = $1.00. Total $2.83.

Not included

Offsite Ads fees (charged only when a sale comes from an Etsy offsite ad; see Etsy's fee policy), Etsy Ads, Share & Save credits, currency conversion, regulatory operating fees, and Etsy Plus.

How the math works, what we assume, and where Etsy's fee rules come from.

How we calculate

We take your sale price, the shipping you charge and the buyer's sales tax, apply Etsy's published US fee rules (linked under Sources), then subtract your shipping label and what you paid for the item. Each fee is rounded to the cent. It is an estimate: your platform statement is the final word.

What we assume

US seller, US buyer, US dollars, one item per order, standard account in good standing, no promotions, ads, refunds, currency conversion or instant-payout fees. Sales tax is collected and remitted by the marketplace, so it is never part of your payout, but eBay, Whatnot (processing), Depop and Etsy (processing) still charge a percentage on it. "Payout" is what the platform sends you; "profit" also subtracts your label and item cost. Each fee line is rounded to the cent.
